How to Make a Tangy Balsamic Glaze with Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Share
Balsamic glaze is one of those small upgrades that elevates a dish from good to memorable. Made with aged balsamic vinegar and finished with extra virgin olive oil, it takes about twenty minutes and keeps in the refrigerator for weeks.
The Ingredients
Good quality balsamic vinegar is the only non-negotiable here. Look for authentic aged varieties with a thicker consistency. Cheaper varieties work but produce a thinner, sharper result. You'll finish the glaze with a drizzle of Boutique Olive Grove EVOO for richness.
Method
Pour balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat and allow it to simmer gently, stirring occasionally. Reduce until it thickens to a syrupy consistency — about 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. It will thicken further as it cools. Drizzle with EVOO before serving.
Storage
Store in an airtight glass container in a cool, dark place. Keeps for several weeks. If it thickens too much in the refrigerator, warm it slightly before use.
Uses
Drizzle over grilled vegetables, chicken, or steak. Excellent on salads — especially those with feta or goat cheese. Try over strawberries or peaches for a simple, impressive dessert. Works beautifully as a finishing touch on bruschetta alongside our EVOO.
